Become a Safeguarding Adults Champion in Gateshead

Are you passionate about protecting vulnerable adults and making a real difference in your community? If so, our Safeguarding Adults Champions scheme is your opportunity to be that vital link between the Gateshead Safeguarding Adults Board (GSAB) and the organisations that serve our community every day.

What is a Safeguarding Adults Champion?

A Safeguarding Adults Champion is a practitioner within any Gateshead-based organisation - whether voluntary, community-based, or statutory - who takes responsibility for promoting and supporting adult safeguarding across their networks. There are no formal requirements to become a Safeguarding Adults Champion. You can be a:

  • Manager
  • Frontline Practitioner
  • Volunteer

All you need is a genuine interest in learning, sharing knowledge and helping to keep adults safe in Gateshead.

As a champion, you'll help build a safer Gateshead by:

  • Raising awareness of good practice in adult safeguarding across your networks;
  • Ensuring that staff, volunteers and service users understand Gateshead's multi-agency policies and procedures;
  • Contributing to consultations and helping to shape local safeguarding priorities and practice;
  • Supporting the development of training opportunities that build  confidence and knowledge in safeguarding adults across the safeguarding partnership.
